Dear Families,

Shhhh...the leprechauns are planning a visit to A2 on March 17th.  Please don't tell your child.  We want to make this a SUPER fun day for the students.  We need donations of gold/green coins, chocolate coins, green confetti, green shamrocks, St. Patrick's day decorations, St. Patrick's Day necklaces/pencils/erasers, etc.  Please don't let students see them if you can donate. Just put them in the little closet in our classroom in a a brown bag and don't forget to write on it who they're from so we can thank you!  Thanks for your help!!!!  Please have donations in by Monday, March 14th.

  • Sight Words: Please work with you child at home on reading, writing, and spelling sight words!  Many kids can already identify all 30 sight words, but still have trouble spelling/writing sight words.  Please work with them at home on identifying, reading, and writing their sight words.  New game: Grab it!  Cut index cards in 1/2 (the more colorful the better), write sight words on index cards, place cards on a table face up, play with a partner, "on your mark, get set go!" Players read sight word and then grab card...kids play until all cards are gone.  Player with more cards wins!
  • Reading/Writing Workshop: How To Writing- First, Next, Last
  • Science: We will soon be studying some live animals in the classroom and then writing about them in Writing Workshop in our Non-Fiction Unit.  Our chick eggs will arrive the Week of March 29th and will hatch around April 20/21.  This is such a fun lifecycle study.
Optional Conferences are March 14-18.  We will email you to set up a time to meet if we have concerns about your child's progress toward academic and/or behavioral standards.

Announcement:
We need your help with a project we are doing for Open House.  We need 2- 4x6 somewhat closeup pictures of your child (a baby picture and a recent picture).  These pictures will not be returned.  We may need to cut off a little around the edges.  Please send these pictures (labeled on the back with your child's name)...no later than Wednesday, 3/30.
