This Week in A2

Dear Parents,

A few reminders:

1. This Wednesday is our first Family Day of the year.  Family Day is a truly awesome school-wide activity where students from each grade join together in "families" in each classroom around the school.  In our "families" we complete fun, community building activities each month.  Students stay with their school families throughout their years at Vallemar.  As 8th graders graduate, new kindergartners join each family.  Upper grade students come to our classroom to escort kindergartners to their family day classroom and drop them off after.  This is a great activity that makes our Vallemar community feel a little smaller.

2. If you have not yet signed up for a Parent Teacher Conference, please do so.  Conferences are 10/16-10/23.  We are looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's transition into kindergarten.  Please CLICK HERE to sign-up for a day and time.

3.Encouraging reading is one of the most important things we can do to help your child succeed. It can be tough finding the right books to keep them interested, which is why I am so excited that our class will be participating in Scholastic Reading Clubthis school year. With Scholastic Reading Club:
- Every book you buy earns FREE Books for our classroom library - You can choose from handpicked, grade- & reading-level-specific books for your childEach month, your child will bring home Reading Club flyers. Together you can choose from books hand-selected by teachers and experts, and then order online or send your order form and payment to Mrs. Glasgo/Mrs. Vazquez.  Book Orders are always due on the last Wednesday of the month.  This month they are due and orders will be submitted on 9/30. CLICK HERE to get started. Our one-time class activation code is: HT6N7.

This Week in A2

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of the families who could make it to Back to School Night!  It was wonderful to see you.  If you were unable to make it, we place the Back to School Night envelope in your child's cubby (and it went home with him/her on Friday).  One packet explains a little bit about some of our classroom policies and procedures, such as star student, birthdays, etc.  The other packet is a practice packet with some of the concepts your child will need to know by the end of Kindergarten.  Practicing at home will reinforce what your child is learning in class and boost your child's confidence with these skills.

A few reminders:
